•Ask Democratic senators to use legislative actions to stop AHCA

CALL: Senator Schumer: 585.263-5866/202.224.6542
Senator Gillibrand: 585.263.6250/202.224.4451

SCRIPT: Hi. I’m from [ZIP], calling about the Senate healthcare bill. I know my Senator will vote to oppose it, but the process needs to slow and open hearings on the bill must happen. I would like [name] to “withhold consent” on all Senate business and to “filibuster by amendment.” I know these seem extreme, but tens of thousands of lives are at stake if the AHCA passes. Is Sen. [name] willing to take these measures?

•Advocate for strict sanctions against Russia.

Call: Senator Schumer: 585.263-5866/202.224.6542
Senator Gillibrand: 585.263.6250/202.224.4451
Rep: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find

Script: Hi. I’m from [ZIP] and am calling to support strong sanctions against Russia for their aggressive actions during our country’s elections last fall. When I see legislators trying to weaken sanctions, I fear for my country’s future. This is not a Republican or Democratic issue. This is about protecting our country from foreign aggression. Will [name] work hard to penalize Russia for their actions?

•Advocate for open, frequent press briefings.
CALL: The White House Comment line 202.456.1111 (or email: https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/).

SCRIPT: Hi. I am concerned about the lack of open press briefings at the White House. I think a free press is essential to our democracy. I would like open, televised briefings from the president on a regular basis. Thank you.

CALL/EMAIL: A news outlet you subscribe to or watch (list: http://www.nytix.com/Links/…/articles/newsmediacontacts.html).

SCRIPT: Hi. I’m a subscriber/viewer and am concerned about the lack of open press briefings at the White House. I think a free press is essential to our democracy. Can you tell me what [org] is doing about this issue?

•Advocate for patients’ rights against corporate abuse.

CALL: Rep: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find
SCRIPT: Hi, I’m from [ZIP] calling about HR 1215 which intends to strip patients’ rights and increase medical corporations’ protections from lawsuits. When it comes to medical neglect, abuse, and malpractice, patients rights need to come first. Does Rep. [name] support violating the 7th Amendment of the US Constitution? Please ask him/her to vote against HR 1215.

•Encourage the NYS Assembly to support the Green Light bill (A4050) that would provide drivers’ licenses to undocumented workers.

CALL: Your NYS Assemblymember: http://nyassembly.gov/mem/search/
SCRIPT: Hi, I’m calling from [ZIP] to ask __ to please support Bill A4050 and to move it out of the Transportation Committee.

•Advocate for the rights of Americans and for civility toward immigrants.

CALL: Gov. Andrew Cuomo
Ph: 518.474.8390

SCRIPT: I am deeply concerned about ICE’s increasing aggression in our communities throughout the state. In Virginia, for example, ICE is stopping legal citizens to ask for proof of citizenship because of how they look. This creates a hostile environment for citizens and immigrants–and makes us all less safe. I am calling to request that Gov. Cuomo contact Homeland Security Sec. Kelly and express his/her desire to “insure domestic tranquility.”

•Curtail gerrymandering

CALL: Rep: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find
Script: I’m from [ZIP] and support fair voting and efforts to stop racially discriminatory gerrymandering. Although this issue is going to the Supreme Court, I’m calling to ask you to support HB711 to address this issue legislatively.
