Join the Rochester Rapid Response Network and community members on June 7th as we launch our public campaign to end the daily unlawful searches by Border Patrol at the downtown Rochester Bus Station (186 Cumberland St).
There will be a press conference, rally and interactive activities for witnessing + documenting Border Patrol presence as well as ‘Know Your Rights’ training. More details to come!
Friday, June 7th from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm
186 Cumberland St, Rochester NY
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have been and continue to overstep their bounds by entering the bus station, boarding buses, intimidating and questioning passengers as to their immigration status absent any warrants or probable cause, and conducting what many consider to be racial profiling of passengers. Border Patrol cannot legally enter the bus station to conduct a search without consent, a warrant, or probable cause – but is currently being allowed to violate passengers 4th amendment rights by the Trailways and Greyhound Bus corporations who hand over consent multiple times a day.
Add your name to the concerned residents of Rochester who understand that Rochester city’s sanctuary policy is more than a proclamation, it is a commitment to ensure the safety and well being of all those that live and travel through our city.
