Press Conference: Support Contraceptive Care for Women
June 5, 2017 @ 10:00 am
The NYS Assembly passed the Comprehensive Conraception Coverage Act (CCCA) which is to provide access to free contraception if and when the Affordable Care Act is repealed. The NYS Senate has not allowed the Act to come to the floor for a vote.
Senator Rich Funke does not support the Act, relaying to two of his constituents that the morning after pill is an abortifacient (no, it is not) and, from comments on a survey he distributed, he has determined the people in his district are not in favor of this Act.
WE NEED TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT AND DEMAND SENATOR FUNKE SUPPORT THE CCCA.
Join us on Monday, June 5, 10 am in front of Senator Funke’s office (230 Packetts Landing, Fairport) to explain birth control, to tell him what it costs, and that women’s health deserves more consideration than a comment box on a survey.
Speaking at the press conference will be Jaclyn Richard, President of Rochester NOW; Kelly LeBlanc, Vice President of Rochester NOW and Action Together Rochester Women’s Rights Team Lead; and Matt Brown, MD, a family physician and candidate for Perinton Town Council.
